Housing Changes 2013...facts, not myths

Housing is changing...and young people find it confusing. Here, the Centrepoint Parliament has put together information to help other young people understand housing benefits and housing options.
This was initially supposed to be a leaflet for Centrepoint young people, but we feel that it's important information for all young people - so please feel free to share it.

Effect on young people of raising the Shared Room Rate threshold to 35

room rate to 35 (from 25 as it is currently) and the indirect impact that this change will have on young people’s ability to access accommodation they can afford.
Family life: the significance of family to homeless young people
We conducted research into how homeless young people understand the role of family, and why some familial relationships break down. The
project also sought to understand if and how these relationships can be rebuilt.
The changing face of youth homelessness: trends in homeless young people's support needs
Homelessness is more than just a housing problem. It can take many
forms, and is often experienced in conjunction with a range of other
problems and needs, meaning that finding somewhere to live is only part of the problem.
