Sandie Shaw
Pop star Sandie Shaw
British music and fashion icon Sandie Shaw began her now
legendary recording career in 1964. At the age of 17, Sandie
stormed the charts with 'Always Something There To Remind Me' and a
slew of hits followed throughout the sixties and early seventies.
Three Number One singles including 'Puppet On A String', the song
with which she became the first UK act to win the Eurovision Song
Contest in 1967.
Sandie returned to the charts in the 80's with The Smiths, and
has recently (for the first time in 25 years) gone back on stage
and has toured as Jools Holland's special guest including two
nights at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Sandie spoke of the importance of ending youth homelessness as
Sir Terrance Conran auctioned his Classic Conran Collection for
Centrepoint in 2010, and she has also visited our Dundas Street
hostel in the north east to learn how we're working with young
people to turn their lives around.
At Christmas 2011, Sandie competed in celebrity Mastermind for
Centrepoint.
