Centrepoint Partnering

Centrepoint works with small youth homelessness organisations to increase their capacity to work effectively with homeless young people.

Centrepoint Partnering

Centrepoint’s work with homeless young people is facilitated by its award-winning “support and development” model which works with a young person rather than doing things for them.  Following the recognition of this approach as an example of best practise, Centrepoint developed a pilot scheme, whereby the model could be rolled out nationally by partnering with small local youth homelessness organisations.  These organisations have essential local knowledge but are often under-resourced and therefore unable to review their practises.  By partnering with Centrepoint and embedding the support and development approach into their working practises they are better able to support the homeless young people who come to them for help.

This project has been funded by The Freemasons’ Grand Charity, the Department for Education and Skills, The Rank Foundation and the Big Lottery Fund.  Additional funding would enable us to expand the existing project, in line with our three year strategy, to benefit more organisations and support more homeless young people to become independent.

“To describe Centrepoint’s support and development approach as an ‘innovation’ is to do it something of a disservice.  In truth, the joint winner of the Andy Ludlow Award 2005 is closer to a cultural revolution.”

“Centrepoint Partnering has been a positive experience which we are all continuing to learn from and would recommend CPP to other small organisations without a doubt.” Doorway, West Midlands
