Young refugees
Starting a new life in a new country is difficult for anyone. But if you have come to Britain to escape danger in your home country it can be even harder to settle in, find a home and a job, and feel part of a community.
Centrepoint supports young refugees to adjust and become familiar with a new place, culture and language. We support young refugees to develop new attachments, cope with family separation and deal with uncertainty about the future.
Language skills, support with an education which has often been disrupted, helping deal with traumatic experiences, and dealing with health related issues are some of the main areas in which Centrepoint supports young refugees, tailoring this support to each individual.
Centrepoint offers one-to-one guidance sessions to help young refugees develop their CV, search for jobs, and develop interview skills. We help match young refugees with a mentor to provide guidance and support finding work and a career. Centrepoint also helps young refugees to find volunteering opportunities and work experience, supporting them to develop confidence, skills and knowledge of the UK job market.
