Celebrities wrap up warm and prepare to Sleep Out for Centrepoint!
A host of famous faces will be supporting Centrepoint on November 12th as they layer up and take to the streets for the night, raising vital awareness of youth homelessness and important funds for Centrepoint.
Giving up their beds for the night to take to the cold floors and windy alleyways of Old Spitalfields market will be Centrepoint celebrity supporters including Centrepoint ambassador Lisa Maxwell. Loose Women presenter Lisa, has been supporting Centrepoint for over four years. Taking part in this year's Sleep Out event, Lisa said:
"I’m delighted to be raising awareness for Centrepoint by sleeping out for the night. I can’t begin to imagine how difficult life must be for young people on the streets. Through my work with Centrepoint it has become all too clear that the young people we see on the streets are no different to you or me, they could be my daughter or son, your sister or brother."
Other famous faces include Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon, star of hit show The Apprentice, Michelle Dewberry, and former ITN newsreader Ed Mitchell who experienced homelessness first hand two years ago. Having battled with alcohol addiction and becoming bankrupt and eventually homeless, Ed now has life back on track, and is living proof that homelessness can happen to absolutely anybody.
Best known for his lead role playing PC Joe Mason in ITV's police drama Heartbeat, Joe McFadden will also be giving up the comforts of his bed for the night. Joe's interest in homelessness has grown since appearing in ITV's Casualty in the role of a young man experiencing homelessness.
Also sleeping alongside Joe and supporting Centrepoint will be actress Niamh Cusack, TV presenter Sarah Cawood, and star of 'The Secret Millionaire' Daniel Smith.
Centrepoint's CEO Seyi Obakin said:
"Centrepoint's Sleep Out is a crucial event in our calendar, helping to raise awareness that at least 75,000 young people across the UK, it is estimated, experience homelessness every year. We are extremely grateful for all of our supporters who are bravely taking to the cold streets for our cause. The night will tough but I hope will also be a lot of fun, with refreshments generously being provided by Spitalfields restaurants including s&m café, and entertainment from a top comedian and London's first homeless choir, the outstanding Choir with no name".
