Centrepoint runners raise over £35,000 for homeless young people
Centrepoint supporters took it all in their stride raising over £35,000 in the Flora London Marathon on Sunday April 26th.
Centrepoint’s nineteen strong team including first time marathon goers and seasoned long distance runners have been training hard for months to embark upon the marathon challenge. They set out on the gruelling 26 mile course with positive determination, knowing that the money they were raising would make a difference to lives of the 800 homeless young people that Centrepoint supports every day.
Kevin Stewart, who took on the marathon challenge for the third year running for Centrepoint, said:
“Having run the marathon for Centrepoint three times now I know what a fantastic job Centrepoint does providing housing and support to homeless young people and I know that donations are put to excellent use. It makes all the hard work running the marathon and training for it really worthwhile. It is very rewarding to be a part of that special work.”John Raynham, Head of fundraising at Centrepoint said:
“This year’s marathon team have been truly superb, not only have they had incredible team spirit but they’ve done incredible work fundraising. The money raised will have an enormous impact on the work that Centrepoint does helping vulnerable young people look forward to a brighter future. Everyone at Centrepoint is so grateful for the dedication and commitment our runners have shown to such an amazing challenge.”
