Cosmetic industry donates Christmas gifts to homeless young women

— filed under:

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… Young women supported by Centrepoint will be looking good this Christmas after an amazing donation of beauty gifts from across the cosmetic industry.

Generous gifts for homeless young women this Christmas

Centrepoint volunteers Jo Fairley and Sharron Lowe called in all their favours from the beauty industry to make sure that homeless young women will have beautiful gifts to wake up to on Christmas Day.

Working with the ‘Make a Difference Committee’ Jo and Sharron secured 250 bags, each containing over 40 beauty products. This means that young women at Centrepoint will share over 10,000 beauty gifts between them this Christmas. The products included perfume, lipstick, mascara and moisturiser, and were donated by top name brands such as; Elemis, Revlon, Nivea, Liz Earle, Crabtree & Evelyn, Selective Beauty & Fashion Fair.

John Raynham, Head of Fundraising, said ‘Despite the economic conditions the ‘Make a difference Committee’ have excelled themselves this year. In tough times it's those on the bottom rung of society that suffer the most, but thanks to the efforts of Jo and Sharron young women supported by Centrepoint will have something to make them feel special on Christmas Day.’

Sharron Lowe said: “The ‘Make a Difference Committee’ is absolutely overwhelmed at the spirit and generosity of our friends and colleagues within the cosmetic industry who have gifted over ‘ten thousand products!’ to young women at Centrepoint this year. We have been ‘playing Santa’ and creating fabulous Christmas presents for Centrepoint for the past five years and this is without doubt the best yet! The ‘Make a Difference’ team have done the most outstanding job in passionately and persistently asking for products to be donated….It’s the best team I have ever been a part of!”

On behalf of all the young women, Centrepoint would also like to thank the other members of the ‘Make a Difference Committee’ for their part in sourcing and preparing the beauty gifts; Anna De-Vere, Kirsty Lewis, Sarah Duguid and Michelle Boon. The cosmetics were presented beautifully in fabulous bags donated by Simone & Laurence Plaskow at JSL Concepts Ltd and everything was packed and delivered free of charge By Rod Hall and his team at Modern Typewriting Supplies Ltd.
