Volunteers bring some Christmas sparkle to Centrepoint
Volunteers from William Morris Agency donated their time to bring a bit of Christmas sparkle to a Centrepoint service for homeless young people.
Nine volunteers from leading talent and literary agency, William Morris Agency, recently spent their morning meeting homeless young people receiving support from Centrepoint and decorating a Christmas tree which they had donated to Centrepoint’s service in Covent Garden.
Accompanied by young people living in the service, the volunteers transformed the reception room, used by all visitors and the 49 young people that the service supports, into a spectacular sight fit for all of the Christmas celebrations to come.
Clare Norton, Centrepoint’s Director of services said: “It is very easy for people to forget all of the homeless young people that don’t have a safe place to call home at Christmas- a time when most get together with friends and family and overindulge in gifts and food. Christmas for homeless young people can be one of the loneliest and most isolating times of the year. Something as simple as decorating a Christmas tree, eating some mince pies and having a chat can make an incredible difference, and really brings some Christmas cheer to the service and the young people living there.”
Cathie Covington, Head of Operations & HR UK, from William Morris Agency said: “Donating just a short amount of time makes such a difference to a group of young people who in the past might have spent the Christmas period alone and in danger. It was extremely rewarding for our staff to be able to help bring a bit of festive sparkle to the young people receiving support from Centrepoint and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the process”.
