Hidden homelessness

It is very difficult to have a ‘full picture’ of the numbers of young people who are homeless. Often single homeless young people exist out of sight due to ‘sofa surfing’ or staying with friends, or living in squats or hostels. Not all homeless young people approach their local council for help.

Youth homelessness in the UK: a new study

The first UK-wide review of youth homelessness for a decade has revealed that despite falling numbers of young people being accepted as homeless in the last three years across England and Wales, at least 75,000 remain at risk and are in contact with homelessness services every year.
