Law firm Forsters make a marathon effort for Centrepoint

Supporters of national youth homelessness charity Centrepoint took long-distance running in their stride to raise over £35,000 in the Flora London Marathon on Sunday April 13th. This year, the 16 strong team comprising of both first time marathon participants and seasoned runners, many of whom were supporting Centrepoint for the second consecutive year, took to London’s streets to tackle the gruelling 26.2 mile course.

Centrepoint works to improve the life chances of hundreds of homeless and socially excluded 16-25 year olds, by not only giving them a place to stay but by providing them with support programmes that help them develop the social, educational and life skills needed to move on to independent living.

The Centrepoint team was joined by four employees from law firm Forsters LLP (pictured above). Located in Mayfair, Forsters has built a reputation as a dynamic law firm with an impressive client base, which is recognised for its core strengths in property and private client work. The firm decided to support Centrepoint in June last year and has since been involved in a number of fundraising initiatives supporting Centrepoint. In this year’s marathon the team raised a magnificent £10,000.

One Forsters runner, Ian Leigh says: “The marathon has been an unforgettable experience – it was hard work but I’m so proud to have completed it. The efforts that my colleagues and I put into this, from the start of our training up until when we crossed the finish line has been really worthwhile, especially as it has helped raise £10,000 for Centrepoint.”

Jeremy Gray, Director of services at Centrepoint said: “We are enormously grateful to all our runners for choosing to support us. Their dedication to training and the determination they have shown in completing the course and raising a fantastic sum of £35,000 will make such a big difference to the young people that Centrepoint supports.”
