Sources

Statutory grant funding is available to the voluntary and community sector from The European Community, the national government and The National Lottery. European funding can be drawn down directly from The European Community or through an intermediary body known as a co-financer. Government funding can be drawn down directly from a government department such as The Department of Health or from a government agency such as The Learning & Skills Councils. The National Lottery funding is drawn down by applying to one of their funding streams such as The Big Lottery Fund or The Heritage Lottery Fund. Statutory grant funding is a relatively new area of fundraising activity for Centrepoint although we have been very successful in attracting government funding.

Access

The European Community, national government and the National Lottery have set priorities and objectives for the funding that they provide. Voluntary and Community groups must be delivering activities that meet those priorities in order to secure funding. Centrepoint are able to qualify for a wide range of statutory funding because the disadvantaged young people that we work with have a variety of needs that are a priority for statutory funders

Eligibility

Homelessness is the one uniting factor that brings all our young people together, but within that category sit a number of acute needs that need to be addressed before a young person is able to lead a full and independent life. Such needs may include: literacy and numeracy, language needs, access to education, training and employment, physical health problems, mental health problems, and drug and alcohol misuse. The young people will often represent groups that are disadvantaged in society including: ex-offenders, lone parents, ethnic minorities, refugees, the unemployed and care leavers

Partnership

Centrepoint works with the most disadvantaged young people who face multiple obstacles to social inclusion. Statutory funding is aimed at improving the opportunities and circumstances of disadvantaged young people. Centrepoint works in partnership with statutory funders to address the problems of disadvantaged young people and to provide support that will help them turn their lives around.
