A good place to look for information on dealing with debt and arrears is the Directgov website. Read their advice for young people in debt.

National Debtline is a U.K. charity which gives advice to people with debt problems.
They have a telephone Helpline service which is free, confidential and independent: Tel. 0808 808 4000. (9.00 am to 9.00 pm Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 1.00 pm on Saturday).

Capitalise (Tel. 020 2392 2953) offer free face-to-face debt advice (by appointment only).

The Citizen's Advice Bureau provide free advice on how to resolve your situation face-to-face or over the phone.

Credit Action is a charity which gives financial advice.
