Where can you start?

Brushing up your english and maths

Do you want some help with improving your reading/writing or maths? These basic skills are very important and you will need them. IT skills also improve your chances of getting a job.

Here is a link to some courses you can do, many of which are free if you are on Job-seeker’s allowance http://catalogue.learndirect.co.uk/browse/sfl/

You work on-line at any Learning Centre, at your own pace, and at the end if you pass you get a certificate. This is good if you are from another country and you want to show an employer your English is good enough. It can also be a way of getting a certificate in a subject you didn’t get a GCSE in, such as Maths. Basic maths skills are considered important for almost all jobs.

Some people find it very difficult to read and spell because they have something called Dyslexia. They may be intelligent but they find it more difficult than most people do to read and write. If you think you might be dyslexic and you want to learn more about it click on this link: www.beingdyslexic.co.uk/
