Writing a CV

An important part of finding work nowadays is creating your own “C.V.” CV stands for curriculum vitae and is basically a summary of your educational and employment history. Don't worry if you don't have much working experience or qualifications. We all have some information and skills that we can include on a CV and everyone has to start somewhere when writing one.  If you want to learn how to create a CV, click here).

You can send your C.V. to agencies and employers with a covering letter over the internet. If they are interested they will get in touch with you. You have to keep trying and eventually your persistence will pay off.

National Minimum Wage Rates

When starting out in work, it is important to understand your rights as an employee. In the UK, we have National Minimum Wage Rates that all employers have to work to.

To find out more about minimum wage rates call the National Minimum Wage Helpline on 0845 6000 678.

To see what the current rates are or to calculate if your employer is paying you the correct rate, visit directgov pages on National Minimum Wage Rates.
