Ways to volunteer

There are numerous ways that you can help us end youth homelessness and give young people a brighter future.

Support young people in our direct services

Since Centrepoint's inception in 1969, volunteering has persistently provided important and constructive assistance in tackling youth homelessness. Volunteers are a valuable source of additional support and can have an actual and positive impact on the lives of vulnerable, young people. We seek to integrate volunteers fully into the everyday work here at Centrepoint.

In our direct services

Our volunteers help within our services by doing a wide range of roles such as support and development work, mentoring and befriending and reception and administration duties. There is the opportunity to work directly with young people.

By assisting the learning team, volunteers help provide specialist support and practical advice to young people. Support workers run 'Life Wise' workshops, which encourage young people to develop the skills required for independent living, while mentors meet with young people to discuss any needs or problems they may have.

Most of our direct provision for young people is in and around London; however, we have a growing presence outside London, mainly in the north east of England. To find out about our services and where they are click here.

Volunteers are a useful source of assistance in our central office. There are opportunities to carry out research and influence policy issues, support the media and communications department or assist Centrepoint's fundraising campaigns.

Centrepoint's central office is in Central London on the eastern edge of the City. Liverpool Street, Aldgate and Aldgate East tube stations are nearby. So the office is within easy reach of Central line, Circle line, District line, Hammersmith & City line underground services, main line train services and bus lines.

Employee volunteering

Centrepoint is able to provide opportunities for staff volunteering, whether it is a one-off project or a more sustained commitment.

Student placements

If you are a Social Work student Centrepoint can provide you with a Student Placement at one of our services. To find out about our services and where they are click here
